Women's Sports Foundation Offers Support for Aspiring Female Athletes Through Travel & Training Fund; Proposals due June 8, 2012

The Women's Sports Foundation's Travel & Training Fund provides direct financial assistance to aspiring female athletes in the United States, in either individual and team sports, who have the potential to achieve even higher performance and rankings.

Travel & Training grants are intended to provide serious female athletes with the coaching, specialized training, equipment, athletic attire, and/or travel necessary to fulfill their potential on the regional, national, or international level.

Applications may be submitted by an individual athlete or a team (two or more females). Individual applicants and all members of a team must be female U.S. citizens or legal residents and be eligible to compete for a U.S. national team; must have amateur status; and must demonstrate the ability, based on competitive record and years in training, to reach and compete at an elite level.

High school, college, university (intercollegiate or club), and community recreation sports teams are not eligible. Any athlete who is a member of a team already applying for a grant may not also apply for an individual grant in the same grant period.

Grant amounts vary. A minimum of $100,000 in total grants will be awarded each calendar year.

Visit the Women's Sports Foundation Web site for complete program guidelines, an FAQ, and the application form.
